Well, thanks to Covid-19 we are about to find out. Join Vancouver actor David Adams in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge as he meets all the usual characters from Bob Cratchit to Jacob Marley, with only six actors creating and voicing over 40 of the beloved characters for this charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying “Bah Humbug!” Our Foley artists augment the performance with live sound effects and musical underscoring to engage your imagination as you are transported into the story via Live Theatre. Press Release: A Christmas Carol – The Radio Play Live Performances CANCELLED – please WATCH ONLINE For coming together, to gather and tell stories We thank you.” Erik Gow, 2020. “ You are the light in these dark times that keeps us going. I knew it was the right choice, no matter what Covid could throw at us, I knew we could create safety, efficiently, and with enthusiasm for theatre once again. Theatre Depression was real… But yet, I was excited, I was interested, and I was energized. The biggest companies, Arts Club, Bard, TUTS, all shut down their summer shows. Especially, for me, where theatre was going. This was back in June/July 2020… When we really didn’t know where the world was going. And I remembered, this is what theatre is about – excitement. I emailed David Adams, as the first choice for Scrooge – he was in. I brainstormed with my actual life partner, Kat, about show choices… Funnily enough, Christmas Carol was not the immediate thought, but once Kat said it out loud, I was hooked. I called my theatre life partner, Erik, and asked him if he thought it was a good idea and if he thought he could write it. We could keep the audience distant and keep the actors distant, yet still create theatre. What would Christmas be like without a Metro Panto? The answer came to me, when asking another question – How do we do safe theatre in an uncertain time? Radio plays. It’s perfect! Six actors, socially distanced on stage, music stands, mics, scripts, and whole lot of sound effects. Written by Eric Gow | Directed by Chris Adams
